Reboot time, my friends
Oh, hi friends!
Why do things break?
Yesterday my computer started beeping. Not a cute little “beep!” But a BEEP BEEP BEEP (pause) BEEP BEEP BEEP.
Was it the RAM? Battery? All I know is I had one story to write, three stories to edit, and a black screen.
BEEP BEEP BEEP (pause) BEEP BEEP BEEP
I immersed myself in MacBook forums, watched YouTube videos on my phone, tried in vain to get a Genius Bar appointment, even smacked the laptop to try and nudge the RAM back into place.

Finally, hours later, a possibility.
Hold down Option + Command + R + P. Tap the power button. Keep holding. See if it restarts.
After two dozen attempts, it did.
Euphoria.
There have been a lot of BEEP BEEP BEEPS in the world lately.
You know what you deserve?
You deserve a reboot.
Enjoy yours this weekend.
“But maybe one day I’ll feel equal to the rest of the human race. I didn’t even think I was worthy of happiness and success. I thought I wasn’t allowed to be that person that would have that.”
I learned so much about Mariah Carey in this illuminating profile by Allison P. Davis. A different side to the fame you see.
They Wrote a Diary For Us
This story was an exceptional, accurate, and moving look at the last five months in New York. Photographs by Daniel Arnold and text by Dodai Stewart.
Makes me consider (again) the importance of presentation when you're communicating a story. How does it move? What does the page look like? How are you telling the story, both visually and with text? And most importantly, what additional value does this provide to the reader? Anyway, this is very much worth the scroll!!
OK, but seriously, don't forget to reboot.
