Let's give July a decent ending
Oh, hi friends!
Today we’ve got a Friday falling on the last day of the month.
Talk about an ending.
No matter how your July went — good, bad, somewhere in the loosey-goosey middle — you can still finish strong.
Do a little. Or a lot.
But you can do something good today.
Maybe that looks like doing good work. Or getting good rest. Or having a good sweat out in the sun. Or prepping a good plan for August. Or repairing something good that broke earlier this month.
Or, simply, looking back on the last 31 days and being glad you got through them.
Here’s a natural ending.
Finish strong.
“Rosario Mazzeo says he hasn’t missed a single day of work in 70 years. The owner of Roma Market in Pasadena arrives at 4:30 a.m. and works until 8:30 p.m., seven days a week.
‘This is my life,’ he says on a recent morning, sitting in a chair opposite the entrance. ‘Not even one day I take off. I like what I’m doing.’”
From the headline (“The 81-year-old behind the best Italian sandwich in Pasadena”) to the sandwich itself (“crusty bread made by a Sicilian baker, a drizzle of good olive oil, a couple slices each of capicola, mortadella, salami and provolone”), this is pretty much the most compelling story I've read in weeks. A Celebration Is In Order
Boy oh boy, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel scored 20 Emmy nominations this week. TWENTY.
Can I ask you a favor? Composer Ron and I took a breather after putting together the final presentation of our Marvelous Mrs. Maisel musical, but we’d love more fans to see it.
So if you know someone who might enjoy Susie, Midge, and the B. Altman shopgirls, would you mind sharing with a friend or tweeting if you’re up to it?
Here’s our full 13-minute version, or individual songs “A Perfect Life,” “You Got the Goods,” and “B. Altman.”
I guess this is me practicing what I preach — seeing through a project, sharing your work (and asking for help) is essential! Thank you.
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
