The politics of group chat
Oh, hi friends!
I’m probably the last person to speak up in a group conversation.
But if you don’t agree with something you hear or a plan that’s being made, what’s the better option:
Stewing about the situation and complaining about it afterward?
Or sharing your opinion and maybe affecting the outcome?
Give other people the opportunity to hear you. They might even agree.
“There’s a huge explosion of education and training material available to every one of us. Why not take advantage of that?”
This is from one of the most thought-provoking interviews I’ve ever done, with IT Futurist Ben Pring.
While the future seems cloudy, there was a thread of optimism in his outlook.
We talked about the future of work in my latest story for TED Ideas, and he shared 10 jobs that might become highly relevant now through 2030. Things like Chief Purpose Planner, Virtual Events Planner, Socially Distanced Office Designer, and more.
Thinking about new opportunities always makes me feel better. Ya know?
End of an Era
Continuing my obsession with shows that haven’t aired for 15 years, last night Colin and I finally finished watching all 11 seasons of Frasier. (That’s 264 episodes, for those counting.) We started the show last year and the episodes were a witty little chaser after dinner.
Earlier this year, I was imagining what Frasier would look like in today’s world and wrote an episode myself. As one does! Here’s the script if you’d like to spend some time with the Cranes (and see if I got them right at all). And if you need a laugh, try one episode, they're all on Hulu!

Thanks, as always, for reading.
