How to respond to ancient emails
Oh, hi friends!
Can you see the bottom of your inbox?
Any email anxiety you might have had back in, say, March, has probably morphed into something even more persistent.
So this is the hill I'm going to die on: It’s never too late to respond to an email!!!
Whether it’s been two days or two months, responding can free your mind, like checking off an invisible to-do item.
In my new piece for Forge, I shared some ideas on what you can say after a loooong delay — yes, it can be awkward! — but more than anything, I hope it encourages you to hit “reply” today.
OK, Mary!!! We get it!!!

Your Creative Life Next Year
Last night was my final class of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop! It’s been two years of writing, rewriting, more rewriting, and making lifetime friends and collaborators. I applied despite never considering myself a “lyricist,” and this wild ride has been the creative highlight of my life. (PS — here's our Marvelous Mrs. Maisel musical in case you missed it!)
Luckily for aspiring writers, BMI is accepting applications for next year! The deadline for composers and lyricists is August 1. Here are the details, and if you’re thinking of applying and have any questions, I’m here for you!
And if musical theater isn’t your bag, I hope my experience encourages you to throw that Hail Mary pass. Fling that moonshot. Try, even if it seems out of reach. You won’t regret it.
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
