The work trick that always works
Oh, hi friends!
Yesterday I wrote about how doing something more often than not can lead to progress.
There’s another way I like to look at this idea of incremental gains, which I think I stole from gym rats on Instagram?
Here it is.
Never skip two days in a row.
You miss one day? That’s OK! You can pick it up tomorrow.
But two days can easily turn to three (or more). This often happens if I skip writing the newsletter or exercising or working on a specific project. One day off and I’m fine, but coming back after two days is infinitely harder. Even more and it takes a big pep talk. I really want to prevent the pep talk.
So if you made good progress yesterday, you can keep up your streak today.
And if you need a day off, take it.
But keep an eye on Wednesday. Even better, make a plan for it.
Loved this, from the author of Making a Literary Life, which I finally read during quarantine.

Five Minutes of Music (and Dancing!)
I thought this music video was such a poignant reimagining of the Jason Robert Brown song “A New World.” The creativity! The creators!
