Resisting the speed-scroll
Oh, hi friends!!
When we use our phones, our thumbs are in overdrive.
Scroll, scroll, scroll.
We absorb everything like we’re at a buffet.
Gulp, gulp, gulp.
But is that the best way to feed hunger?
Instead of scrolling, skimming, becoming overwhelmed by choices and so making none, what about...
Clicking through.
Stopping.
Reading deliberately.
Deciding where to put money—doing it.
Listening deeply.
And repeating.
Let’s not speed-scroll through our lives, through this, through anything.
“‘Make sure your energy is at a 10, because you can control that. It's contagious. It makes things happen.’”
I really enjoyed this profile of Eric Thomas, who GQ calls “your favorite athletes’ favorite life coach.”
This thing about energy above is something he texted to point guard Isaiah Thomas while he was rehabbing an injury.
Don’t forget: You control your energy. How can you keep it at 10 today so it's there when you need it? And can give it to others when they need it.
Some energy-providing ideas: Rest (real rest), completing one important yet simple task, contributing, writing, connecting. You know what works for you.

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
