I love a first day
Oh, hi friends!!
If establishing routines and habits is hard, then letting go of them might be even harder.
But not always hard in the sense that you miss them. Some might have slipped away without you realizing.
There’s the store that’s still open but now feels a bit too far away. The way you always used to turn right on your corner, but now avoid because everyone else does, too. The way you’d stretch a walk with your dog into an hour or more, because why not?
Each of these little habits got locked in because you did them, over and over again, until you no longer thought about them.
Yet they all started with one day — the first day.
Today can be the first day for a lot of things.
“My wish for you is that you continue. Continue to be who and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness. Continue to allow humor to lighten the burden of your tender heart.”
— Maya Angelou
Are You Also a Plant Killer/Lover?
So I’ve noticed my plants thrive the most...when I’m not around. *gulp*
But my friend told me about this app PictureThis — you take a picture and it identifies flowers and plants, diagnoses problems (crunchy leaves, anyone?), and tells you how to care for them. Thanks to Abby Haglage for the tip!
(But seriously I can barely tell the difference between a tulip and a rose.)
PS — If you'd like some low-pressure accountability in the morning, please join me and my brother Eric for the 10:11 Club — every weekday at 10:11am ET, we're starting our day together and working toward one goal until noon. Thanks, as always, for reading.
