Time your task and tell me
Oh, hi friends!
Let's try a little experiment.
Give yourself a deadline today.
For something. Anything.
Sending that email. (So many emails.) Resolving that bill. Signing up for that race. Whatever’s nagging the back of your mind.
Don’t just say you will do it.
Say you will do it.
Estimate how long it will take.
Pick a time today.
That's your deadline to complete it.
Then do it.
If you need some accountability, hit reply and send your task and your time to me! I won’t do it for you (sorry), but it might encourage you to get it done. Because of the shame—the deep, burning shame—you will feel if you lie to little ol' me.
Okay, let's go!
Have a cup of coffee and enjoy the moment.
Liz Gilbert has the right idea. There is something luxurious about going to a cafe with the sole purpose of…reading. Thinking. Or simply sipping. It’s deliberate! Make the deliberate choice!
Well, it's not actually Tuesday. Today is Wednesday. But maybe if you apply for one of these, you'll have a new job by Tuesday?
Thrillist is hiring! They’re looking for a Senior Travel Editor, a Video Editor for Snapchat, and a Food Writer. Don't those sound fun? Apply via those links and mention that you heard about them from Cindy Augustine if you do. (h/t Cindy herself)
Fast Company is hiring an Associate Editor to write and edit on their print pub! Even though I'm a digital monkey most of the time, working in print at Newsweek taught me so much: how to edit for space, kill some widows, write "print" headlines, the importance of photography and packaging, blah blah blah. Good gig! (h/t Miriam Datskovsky)
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
