The wonders of compound procrastination
Oh, hi friends!
We all know about compound interest. You put $100 in your 401K every month and by the time you’re 65, you're a kajillionaire. (Exact sum may not be accurate.) This is because the amount you deposit accrues interest, and that amount plus your interest accrues interest, and everything snowballs from there.
But now I want to talk about compound procrastination.
This happens when you don’t do one thing, or miss one deadline, and that guilt and that stress accrues on top of all your other tasks. You miss something else, and your whole day—or week! or month!—snowballs.
How to fix?
Hmmm. We can take a cue from compound interest. It’s much easier to save when your bank automatically takes money out every month and saves it for you.
To eliminate compound procrastination, automate and execute. This means making your decisions faster. And think about how much happier you'll be later.
Do it and it will be done.
Your rich, successful, and in control future self will thank you.
Bills on bills.
"Of course, Fogelman is no stranger to bad reviews. In the early days of his career, before he wrote the screenplays for hits such as Crazy Stupid Love and Cars, his writing on the movie Fred Claus was savaged. After his mother died about a decade ago, he went to clean out her New Jersey condo and found a plastic container filled with newspapers she’d saved from the Tri-State area that had reviewed the Vince Vaughn Christmas flick.
'And every single review says 'The abomination of the movie can mainly be attributed to a terrible script by new writer Dan Fogelman,'' he says. 'And my mom has highlighted my name every time. I’m like, what else do you need? That’s unconditional love.'
I was really looking forward to Life Itself, the new movie by This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman. Then critics absolutely tore it apart. Here, Fogelman reckons with that fact, but something tells me he’ll be just fine.
Bad reviews aren’t going to stop him from creating. They shouldn't stop you either.
This Mary Poppins Returns trailer has everything. Makes my heart light. Suddenly, I’m very excited for it! (h/t Carl Zurhorst)
