How do you start your day?
Oh, hi friends!
What would your day look like if you did the most important thing first?
I know most productivity and daily routine books preach this. “Swallow a frog in the morning,” and all that.
But beyond getting the most important or hardest thing done first, think about the momentum and energy that can come from it.
And the intention that you’re setting.
Do it first, and all day, you might be thinking: I want to be a writer, and I already wrote today. Or painted. Or worked on your website. Or whatever.
It feels good because it’s done.
You feel good because you did it.
“If we’re distracted in each moment, these moments accumulate, day by day, week by week, year by year, to create a life that’s distracted. When we focus on what’s meaningful and productive in each moment, these moments accumulate to create a life that’s filled with those same qualities.”
This observation by Chris Bailey was a good one. He has a new book called Hyperfocus: How to Be More Productive in a World of Distraction. Read more from his interview with Gretchen Rubin.
This is four gorgeous minutes. Sheila Atim singing Bob Dylan’s “Tight Connection to My Heart,” from Girl from the North Country, which is coming to the Public Theater this month (sadly, without Sheila!). Trust me and watch! (h/t Kiturtle)
