Find your way to motivation island
Oh, hi friends!
We all have fluctuations in our motivation.
There are high highs! There are low lows. There are middle-of-the-road middles.
The thing that keeps you sane is realizing that these are only fluctuations. Little shifts and swings. Blips. It’s OK to enjoy your weekend or have a slow start to the week or a throwaway Monday. So much can change within the week, or day, or hour.
So what if you lean in to the one event or project or moment you’re most excited for during the week?
Focus on that island.
And rather than fighting the tide, think of the things you don't want to do as little buoys that are helping you float all the way there.

From the Twitter of playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis—and I’ve thought about his play “Our Lady of 121st Street” so much since seeing it a few weeks ago. (Sadly, it’s already closed!) But the biggest takeaway is that inspiration found him working.
A Bit of a Story You Should Read to the End
Three Pieces of Advice for the Creative Life by Courtney J. Martin
“Be humble in the pursuit of your art and ruthless about finding the time to make it. Find friends with whom you can weather the tragic gaps. Give one another loving, honest feedback and teach each other how to make money in weird, sustaining ways. Collaborate and commiserate. Make relationships that are reciprocal, not transactional. Make lives that aren’t easy, but rife with good material. Make art that matters.”
