How to fix a blobby Monday
Oh, hi friends!
Mondays are usually pretty blobby. Everything left undone from the previous week rolls down the hill, gathering moss and calendar invites and email threads, until you’ve got one big, ugly Flubbery blob-ball.
Example: I’ve got some projects to finish and assignments and play pages to write and a flight to catch to California on Wednesday morning. And many emails I actually want to respond to. But if I think about them all at once—as one giant blob—they will swallow me whole.
But if instead I think…alright, let’s just finish this newsletter. Edit this story. Transcribe this interview. Write one page. Pack that bag…the day can become a squishy marshmallowy path to follow, rather than an impenetrable murky bubble.
So smush that blob.
Create some order.
Make a path.
And slip-slide on down to Tuesday.
After listening to the soundtrack for two years, I saw Hamilton for the first time this weekend. I cried. A lot! Mostly I think I was amazed by the musical's sheer energy and momentum and unbridled creativity. Lin-Manuel reminds us all that we can create anything at any moment—and sometimes that's exactly what we need.
For your Monday morning moment of meditation, I present to you…the cool and calm Pallas’s cats. I could watch them forever? They originate from central China and Mongolia. There are two at the Prospect Park Zoo. I’m going to visit them soon and make them my best friends!!!
PS — I stopped by the new members-only Dumbo House for The Bridge. (No Pallas's cats there, far as I could tell.) Check out what makes it the most enviable summer invite in the city.
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
