Swapping winter for summer
Oh, hi friends!
Confession to make…
It’s taken me until now, the first week of June, to swap out my winter clothes for summer ones.
My hesitation was two-fold: My dresser drawers were a monster’s lair of balled-up sweaters and crumpled long-sleeve shirts, and I was terrified to cross its threshold. Also, I don’t love dressing for summer (give me layers! scarves! boots!).
But mid-80s temps in New York made the switch necessary.
And you know what? It was delightful.
I got rid of terrible shirts that no longer served me (hi, Marie Kondo — totally forgot I wrote about spring cleaning last year!), gathered two bags to take to Goodwill, and banished the rest of my winter gear to drawers under my bed.
As boring as it seemed to commit two hours on a Sunday to this menial task, I now feel lighter. Instead of dark pits, my drawers are welcoming—nearly empty.
I feel ready for a fresh start.

Cameron Crowe was my first favorite filmmaker. This podcast with Alec Baldwin reminded me why. He seems like such a generous and enthusiastic collaborator and a champion of other people's work, which just might be the two qualities I value most in a human.
Welp, I've learned this lesson over and over (and over) again.
The second you let go is the second that everything comes to you.
