Feel that? We are so so so close
Oh, hi friends!
Do that one little thing you need to do.
I know it’s hard.
You might be tired.
I’m tired, too.
Really tired. I-wanna-hermit-for-48-hours tired. My brain-has-nothing-for-you tired.
But oh my gosh, we are so close to the end of Friday and you might just have a little three-day weekend calling your name and you know that if you do that one little thing, you won’t have to think about it on Saturday. Or Sunday. Or Monday. Or ever again.
Do it for your future self.
And I’ll see you back here on Tuesday.
“I change my mind every five minutes. I’m very brutal with my own process. I throw everything away very quickly and then I have to go out and rummage through the rubbish in the middle of the night to try to find a bit I’d written a week ago.
I’m trying to come up with a story but it’s been a challenge because I felt the original story had come to completion. It had started as a play and it had one story arc. I lived the play for years before writing it and I honed it with an audience. So I had to crack that open and find a new way to talk about this woman’s experience. And I’ve got months to do it instead of years. Love a challenge!”
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the showrunner of Killing Eve and also wrote and starred in Fleabag (which started its life as a play!). Love how her entire writing process winds around in this quote and comes full circle with an optimism button—“love a challenge!” Gotta pin that one on the bulletin board. (h/t Sarah Begley)

Weekend theater tip: Long Day’s Journey into Night closes at BAM on Sunday. Snag on-stage seating (literally cushions on the floor) for $25. I saw Lesley Manville and Jeremy Irons from 10 feet away—master class in acting! The play’s a billion hours long. You will lose sensation in your butt by hour two. Just go with it.
Knitting the Carousel costumes. (Such a fun piece by my friend Abby Ellin!)
