Do you need new shoes?
Oh, hi friends!
I am really bad at buying new running shoes. Maybe I just like running them into the ground (hahahahaha sorry). Maybe I would rather spend my money on other things. Maybe I forget how long I’ve had them. Maybe it’s all of the above.
But I finally bought a new pair this week (Shoekicker is amazing for finding the cheapest options, btw).
And yesterday I ran a mile and thought…Ohhhhh. This feels nice. Springy. Easier.
And I wondered why I didn’t allow myself to feel that sense of ease earlier.
And I wondered why we so often make things harder than they need to be.
And I wondered why making decisions can feel so daunting before you make them and yet so uncomplicated after the fact.
And then I wondered why I always wondered so much.
So I stopped wondering. And just kept running.
I really enjoy Carl Richards and his weekly Behavior Gap emails. Simple, clever, accurate.
Calling all writers. The Brooklyn-based writing and tutoring nonprofit 826NYC is hiring Teaching Artists! They’re looking for writers who are passionate about literacy education and have experience working with students. (Plus, you'd get to work with my friend Rebecca!) More here.
Vulture is hiring a deputy TV editor. Once upon a time I would have been qualified for this job. Now I watch maybe an hour of TV a week. WHO AM I?!
Big Duck is hiring a Strategist to lead projects of all kinds—including brand development, messaging, communications planning, campaign strategy, and more for their nonprofit clients. Sounds like a terrific job, floated my way by a friend who works there.
And Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner’s Lenny is hiring an editorial assistant. Get after it.
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
