Process! Friendship! Making moves!
Oh, hi friends!
Some of your deepest, richest friendships probably took years to develop.
Others might have been sparked in a few weeks or even days.
I think the creative process is a lot like a friendship.
Sometimes it’s a slow build. An accretion of moments, shared stories, late-night Chipotle-and-Pinkberry runs.
Sometimes it’s a sudden flash. A right-place-right time, a single conversation, a meeting during a random vacation or trip.
We’re all constantly learning new things and meeting new people.
No matter the origin, they all add up. They all transform you. They’re all part of a process.
“The hardest thing to do as an artist is to figure out who you are and what you uniquely have to offer in the world.”
This Off-Camera with Sam Jones interview with Jay Duplass is lovely. He talks about his failures of making three movies and dozens of short films with his brother Mark before becoming “creatively bankrupt” at age 30—which led to their breakout short film “This Is John.”
Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
This comic “Coffee Shop Debacle” nearly made me spit out my coffee. Well worth the quick scroll. Start your week with a laugh! Read it!
