BOOM! Let’s get Monday.
Oh, hi friends!
Your day is probably pretty much planned right?
Go here, do this, errands, meetings, lunch, do that, go there.
It’s Monday—you’re ready.
But how about the week?
Do you know the Most Important Thing you must do this week?
Maybe it's not happening until Friday and it seems like you’ve got a lot of time, but by the time Thursday rolls around, everything from Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will have rolled right along with it.
Keep your eye on the Most Important Thing.
The go here, do this, errands, meetings, lunch, do that, go there will all get done.
You’re great at those. Put them on autopilot.
Use that energy to pilot your Most Important Thing.
"It’s a lesson I’ve learned again and again: that life doesn’t always look the way you think it will. I thought being a writer would look like a serene day by the sea, watching the tide roll in as effortless pages print. But in reality, I’m hunched over a laptop in a loud Starbucks, feeling like I’m headed over the Niagara Falls of failure."
From a wonderful essay on the art of failure by playwright and screenwriter Molly Smith Metzler. (I especially loved the anecdote about her first major New York play being a total flop.) (h/t Susannah Jones)
Commitment.
I still watch this Nike ad once a week.
Take two minutes. Then go get it.
