What kind of Monday will you have?
Oh, hi friends!
Here’s a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately:
How’s your capacity today?
Do you feel like doing a thousand little important things? Or maybe one thing really well?
Either works.
On certain days, I love running around, going to meetings, answering 14 emails on a quick train ride, interviewing a source—boom boom bang! Whatta good day.
Other days, I love sitting and writing a single song or story for three or four hours. Maybe eating a bagel. Also a good day.
Your capacity can change day to day. The trick is recognizing—and accepting—the change.
Maybe this Monday will be a “busy” day or maybe it's a bagel day. There are no wrong choices, as long as you choose.
(I dug a little further into this idea for my latest piece for Shine: “How to Own Your Work Capacity.” I really hope you enjoy.)
It felt like this tweet literally took a breath for me. Thank you, Liz Hannah!
This weekend I saw the excellent play "Dutch Masters,” featuring Ian Duff (above) and Jake Horowitz, written by Greg Keller and directed by André Holland. The video above is just a little teaser. Maybe one of my favorite plays so far this year? Go see it before the raves pour in and it sells out.
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
