Oh wow, how did we get here?
Oh, hi friends!
We made it. How are you feeling? Strong? Good? Checked out? Stressed?
Take a deep breath.
...
You didn't. I know you didn’t. Do it now.
Breathe innnnnn.
Okay great. Now think of one thing you want to do in the next week that’ll improve your life in some small way. See a movie, write a note, wrap a present, visit a friend, darn your socks, whatever. Then promise me you’ll do it.
Now’s the time to close the year on the highest of high notes—or the highest of low notes, if that’s where you’re at. Any sort of height is the goal.
So jump.
I’ll see you on January 1.

Did you know Harrison Ford was a carpenter at age 30? Leslie Jones goes off on how it’s never too late to follow your dreams…! (~2 mins)
Lots of good theater advice and straight talk in this interview with director Anne Kauffman on The Interval. I can’t wait to see the musical Hundred Days before it ends this month. If you’re into high-quality folksy music about living your best life, check out the soundtrack.
Oh look, a bunch of really cheap USB and lightning cables that actually work. Time to replace my garbage versions that die after two weeks. (h/t Marissa and Aaron Tarbell)
I love reviews but hate going down the review rabbit hole. Now I just buy stuff that’s vetted on The Wirecutter because I am a sheep. The best whisk? The best champagne glass? The best noise-canceling headphones? Yes, great, sign me up.
My ideal New York story, about the men operating some of the last manual elevators: Riding a Time Capsule to Apartment 8G.
10 new-to-me Trader Joe’s favorites. (I second the frozen Almond Croissants recommendation—better than 95% of the bakeries I’ve been to. I don’t care if that’s blasphemous! THEY'RE AMAZING.)
And finally, I shilled for the live trivia game show app HQ back when 50K people were playing. Now over 600K are regularly trying to guess their way to question 12. (Are you one of them?!) I'm back home in California and played HQ last night with my family. So fun! We were eliminated at question four, but I have high hopes for our future.
