How to share your work without fear
Oh, hi friends!
I was talking to a friend the other day about writing and putting articles/essays/extra-long Instagram captions into the world—and how to deal with judgment or negative comments or, perhaps the scariest outcome of all, silence.
And the advice I have on sharing your work without fear is this:
No one cares. Truly, no one cares! This should make you feel free!
But you can’t hold people’s lack of caring against them or else you won’t have any friends.
Many people respect and respond to vulnerability. As long as you’re honest in your work, you’re golden.
But really, no one cares.
A few years ago, I started writing a short screenplay every day and posting them online (RIP #dailyslog). The point was to churn out pages, but also to get over the fear of sharing my work.
And I recall a specific moment—a turning point—a few weeks into the project when my fears of judgment went POOF. I realized, This exists for me, not for anyone else. Of course, people responding to your work is lovely and kind and surprising, but it's almost always unexpected and impossible to predict.
So that's one trick to putting yourself out there: remembering it doesn’t matter who reads or comments or likes or shares your work, as long as it fulfills its purpose for you.

I’m shocked. I’m disturbed. I’m intrigued?!
According to Marks & Spencer, seedless avocados, AKA "cocktail avocados," now exist.
Eater says the skins are edible. I do not like this brave new world. (h/t Ravi “I Moved Back to California for the Avocados” Dehar)
(By the way, did you know you can download photos from Instagram, like the one above, through dinsta.com? Super useful.)

Thanks, as always, for reading.
