Do you deserve success?
Oh, hi friends!
A quote has stuck with me recently. I can’t remember where it was from — a blog, a book, a podcast, a Medium article, an article, a tweet, an Instagram, oh my, I consume a lot — but it lodged like an earworm close to my brain.
You only have what you think you deserve.
Jobs. Opportunities. Assignments. Money. Love.
Does this hold true for you?
If so, isn’t it time we deserved more?
“You can be any shape, size or look as an actor. It’s what comes off from inside of you. It’s how connected you are to your humanity and your craft. When we say, ‘He’s not right for this part,’ it has nothing to do with talent. It’s the essence of the person. That’s what makes them so interesting and that’s what makes them stars.”
—Casting director Valerie McCaffrey
I want to apply this to almost any creative practice—rejections often have little to do with talent, and more to do with whether you’re the right fit.

WSJ. Magazine is hiring an intern for summer 2018. Lasts 10 weeks. Paid. NOT TOO SHABBY. Send along to your loved ones. (h/t Carrie Seim)
PS — I finally watched the first episode of The Bold Type, the summer show set at a women’s magazine. What a delight!
