End-of-week revelation
Oh, hi friends!
I’m a tried-and-true Questioner. (If you haven’t taken Gretchen Rubin’s Four Tendencies quiz, I highly recommend it—figuring out whether you’re a Rebel, Upholder, Obliger, or Questioner will change the way you approach inner and outer expectations.)
I weigh my options very carefully before making a decision. Or starting something. Or breathing.
But after tracking my time, I’ve discovered a new, probably obvious gift:
Doing takes less time than debating.
That’s it, really. And it works in most cases.
Need to start that assignment? Respond to that email? Kick off a project? Turn down a project?
Do it, don’t debate it.
“What’s not universal is our recognition that, without regular running, the underlying fabric of our lives—our friendships, our marriages, our careers, our odds of being something other than miserable most of the time—will fray.”
This story about the therapeutic benefits of running made a whole lot of sense to me.

Why you need an accountability partner. I’m lucky enough to have three! One for exercise, one for freelance writing, and one for creative moonshots. *waves to friends without whom I'd be a disaster*

Wanna be a freelance writer? My friend Diana Kelly has an online course that walks you through idea generation, pitching, following up with editors, etc. Normally it’s $97, but you can sign up through November for $75 with the code FLX75.
BRIGHT magazine just launched on Medium and I like their style. “We want to tell fresh stories about health, education, and social impact.” And guess what—they pay! Read their helpful pitching guidelines and get to it. (h/t Lavanya Sunkara)
