Hey, can you do me a favor?
Oh, hi friends!
I think my second-biggest fear in life, right after someone forcing me to watch The Killing of a Sacred Deer trailer on repeat, might be asking someone for a favor.
That’s weird, right? To not want to owe anyone anything. Maybe it’s pride or an obsession with self-sufficiency or who-knows-what, but I sometimes wonder what the alternative looks like.
Because help doesn’t always have to be a favor. It can be a gift to let a person do something for you.
See, even typing that…I don’t know if it’s true! That might just be a thing people say.
Still, I probably won’t ask you for a cup of sugar (for my midnight snack?) or to read my script or for that intro to somebody you know. Because I am insane and possibly self-sabotaging and it makes me feel funny.
But that's the nice part about these ingrained habits. At any point, I can sloooowly peel this one back and try, one little favor at a time.
