Take back your empty time
Oh, hi friends!
Where is your empty time? Some of mine includes…
Waiting for coffee to brew. (At three coffees a day, that’s 15 minutes?!)
Washing the dishes.
Any time spent on public transportation.
Waiting for people to respond on email or text before I can act.
Often I fill these little gaps by scrolling Instagram, watching YouTube or self-flagellating for all the things I didn’t get done that day. (I'm the most fun!!!)
But these empty time gaps beg to be filled. I could read a few pages of a book…listen to a podcast or audiobook…generate three story ideas…
Because my most efficient days are the ones whose empty time is filled with something worthwhile.
“Keep your eye on the donut, not on the hole.”
Or, look at what you have, not at what's missing. From David Lynch, evidently a lover of pastries and baked goods.

I continue to think about this video at least once a week. It’s what you do in the dark…that puts you in the light. (~1:30)
Thank you for reading.
