"Oh, you would be the best [XYZ]!”
Oh, hi friends!
Just because you're good at something doesn’t mean you have to do it.
That’s all.
Alright, repeated once more for giggles:
Just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean you have to do it.
“I don’t know how I do it. I’m annoying, and I won’t stop contacting them. I was a bartender for four years, and that was the best training that I had for learning how to approach people.”
This is how everyone’s favorite White House correspondent Maggie Haberman convinces people to talk to her. She’s the latest entrant in The Cut’s excellent How I Get It Done series. My icebreaker tactic is to start with a compliment. Everyone loves a compliment.
A Treat For Your Ears
My talented friend Carlotta Brentan narrated this wonderful audiobook for Things That Happened Before the Earthquake by Chiara Barzini, which has been getting wonderful reviews from all over. As Carlotta says, you might enjoy the novel if you're into poetic and edgy autobiographical portrayals of Italian teens having crazy adventures in Los Angeles in the 1990s. Who wouldn’t want to listen to this?!
Thank you for reading.
Love, Kara
