Grab the sleepiest week of the year
Oh, hi friends!
My friend Stacey described this week before Labor Day as the literal dog days of summer. Out of Office replies are activated, people are squeezing in one more visit to the beach or lake or some other body of water, and nothing's moving. And that's fine!
But when Tuesday after the holiday hits? It’s game time.
Instead of getting sucked into the summer malaise, I'm gonna try really hard to clear the decks on what I can for the rest of this week. All those lingering tasks need a place on the calendar—or to get scrapped altogether. Because the thing you never schedule is the thing you never do.

“Dawson’s recent success isn’t representative of his time in publishing, however. He actually had a book published by Pan Books called "The Art of Falling Apart” in 2000, which completely bombed. Not because it was bad - ironically it’s now available on Kindle and has 32 five-star reviews out of 39 - but because few people read it or are aware of it. Mark puts the book’s failure down to the publishers inability to promote his work and generate any sort of interest.
How does he maintain such a high release-rate? By using his four-hour daily commute to London to write thousands of words a day. As soon as he sits down on the train and opens up his laptop, he’s writing solidly until it’s time to get off.”
I learned two lessons from this: first you fail, and there's always time. Read the full story. (h/t Selina Zhong)
Thank you for reading.
