My Monday mind
Oh, hi friends!
WOOF.
That’s the sound I sometimes make on a Monday. (It's scary.)
WOOF. So much to do. WOOF. But are these the right things to be doing? WOOF. Where is the sun? WOOF. Suddenly the day’s almost over and I realize…I haven’t even sent out a newsletter.
And maybe that’s the cause of a WOOF or two.
Because this newsletter is part of my process—to connect with my friends and strangers, to get my fingers tap-dancing, to start my brain moving in any direction—and when the process falls apart, that’s when a Monday feels like a MONDAY.
So trust the process. Trust your process. Go back to what works, because only you know what works for you. Doesn’t matter if that’s writing at dawn or well into the night or lifting heavy weights or calling up an understanding friend or methodically attacking your to-do list like the type-A person you are.
Trust. Your. Process.
This story “Meet the Cats,” which isn't even really a story, more like a gallery of model cats on NYT, was recommended for me. Algorithms know my soul.
ICYMI: The Best Vows Column of All Time
“People always ask what it is that keeps us young,” Mr. Mann said. “Of course, one part of it is medical science, but the bigger part is that we live worry-free lives; we do not let anything we cannot control bother us in the least.”
Last year, Mr. Mann became the oldest person to graduate from Mount St. Mary College. The college also awarded him an honorary doctorate this past May. At 93, he drove 80 miles round trip twice a week for nearly two and a half years to accrue the 30 credits needed to obtain a degree he had started working on in his 70s…”
And that's just the beginning. Read “She’s 98. He’s 94. They Met at the Gym.” Get the tissues!
Thank you for reading.
