Two questions for your lunchtime
Oh, hi friends!
When I’m trying to decide between a new opportunity, job, or project, I ask myself two questions:
— How much does this pay?
— What will I learn?
With very few exceptions, one of those questions should have a compelling answer.
“Even if nobody believed me, I believed it," she said. "I felt so happy every day, even though I was hustling and driving in the Honda with no AC and going to three or four workouts a day and working three different jobs, and I was so happy and alive and so convinced that everything that I was doing was right. Every single day that I lay down and collapsed in the bed, I was so convinced that that sleep was really earned and every spare moment that I had, every spare thought that I had was for fighting. I was shadowboxing with the droplets in the shower, just trying to get better every single second.”
I have little interest in the UFC or WWE, but this Esquire piece on Ronda Rousey is an oldie and a goodie.
A Few Questions Before We Decide to Let You Join Our Running Club
Thank you for expressing interest in joining our running group. I just have a few questions to make sure you’re the right fit for us.
First, do you carry cash? Because a big part of what we do is pulling wet paper money from our waistbands when we go into coffee shops. The bills should be crumpled and sopping with sweat. The cashier should wonder where exactly the money was when it was inside your pants — don’t explain. Just stare at them and watch their expression change as they realize the bill is both soaked and upsettingly warm. Finish reading this McSweeney’s article that had me rolling…
Thank you for reading.
