So I nearly puked before 7:30 a.m....
Oh, hi friends!
I ran this morning. We did repeats. That means you run really hard or fast, then take a break or easy jog, then run really hard or fast again and try not to throw up, break, and so on.
By the third and last repeat, my legs were beat. I considered pulling over to the side to walk. No one would care. But then I thought, What would be the more interesting choice?
The more interesting choice was to just see if I could run faster. So I tried. And I did.
Changing the framing from “I can’t” to “well, I could try” gave me control. If you’re stuck, maybe you should think about the most interesting path—and start moving.
I became obsessed with @thebalanceguru after my friend Selina sent me his Instagram. This guy works out three to six hours every day, eats a pound of candy a day (but no vegetables!), and is insanely focused on mastering new tricks, like balancing on shopping carts and ledges and every piece of gym equipment. Travis is also a Marine vet and really fascinating dude. I talked to him for my latest story, Watching This Guy Balance on Weird Shit Will Teach You How to Live.
Do you trust me? Watch this. Macklemore surprises his Grandma for her 100th.
Thank you for reading.
