Moonshot Monday
Hi friends,
Have you ever woken up without a plan?
Sometimes it’s a delicious feeling.
The whole day is yours.
(Usually this happens on a Saturday...)
But waking up on Monday without a plan is a recipe for your priorities to become someone else’s.
Here’s a fix...
Let's talk about moonshots.
Google created a moonshot division to work on projects they wanted to accomplish in 10+ years. (Many of them have failed, but that’s neither here nor there.)
Nike’s recent moonshot was to break the two-hour marathon mark. They worked on research and technology (and, yes, an insane pair of shoes) for years and their efforts culminated in a race that live-streamed Saturday until 2 a.m.
I stayed up to watch. It was some of the best “TV” I’ve seen in years.
That’s the thing about moonshots. You can’t look away.
But I have a feeling if you’re engaged in your own, you won’t have a problem waking up every day with a plan.
Plus, it’s just kinda fun to say.
“Hi, my name’s Kara. What am I working on? Well, lemme tell you about my moonshot…”
What’s yours?
"I always said, at the very beginning, all I wanted was to be the granddad with the best stories ... and the best shelf of artifacts and bits and trinkets."
I love this Rolling Stone profile of Harry Styles almost too much. Written by Cameron Crowe, one of my favorites.
