I love the day after Tax Day
Back to Life, Back to Reality
The day after Tax Day is like January 1.
You closed the book (ledger? what do accountants use?!) on one year and can move on to the next.
Anyone else feel inspired to change their habits, or did staring at seven single-spaced pages of itemized expenses brainwash only me?
It’s a fresh start. A clean…ledger? SERIOUSLY, what do accountants use??
And if Tax Day didn’t make it rain for you, you can make new choices, big moves, heck, you can start flipping stuff you find on the street if you want.
You don’t have to repeat 2016.
"I say the goal is not to be good — it’s to be great. The idea is to have the audience leave, and say, 'You’ve got to see this.' You have to work backwards from that result."
Marry me, Steve Martin. But if that’s not possible, I guess I'll settle for your MasterClass lectures teaching the world your comedy secrets. (This quote is from an insightful NYT interview.)
A Useful Tool for Freelance Writers
Where to Pitch is something of a recommendation engine for writers. Say you have a story perfect for Esquire. They say, “thanks, but nah.” Do you cry about it? No, you type in Esquire and discover 114 other outlets you can pitch. Cuts your thinking (and crying) time in half.
Thank you for reading.
Love, Kara
