How do you get out of the hole?
Stuck Like Glue
Whether you’re six feet, sixty feet, or merely six inches under, nothing’s harder than digging yourself out of a hole of malaise. Or self-loathing. Or mere inertia.
Actually…many things are harder.
Most things.
Digging out only seems hard if you’ve lost the tactics.
So what are yours? Smiling at dogs taking their owners for a walk? Nailing Warrior III in yoga? Buying yet another succulent to join your plant graveyard? Constructing a to-do list so elaborate and intricate Tom Hanks is the only human who can decode it?
Your tactics worked in the past. Commit them to memory, and then try, try again.
Jamie Foxx said this. Do you believe him?
And if you don't, how dare you defy a future EGOT.
My writer/director/actor brother and frequent collaborator Eric created a new series called Monovlog—he’s filming a one-minute monologue every day. I wrote "Existential Steinbeck," seen above. Check out Eric's YouTube channel and follow him on Instagram @eric_cotti to see new episodes every night at 10pm!
Thank you for reading.
