How to stop being work selfish
Value Proposition
I’m starting to notice how selfish I am when it comes to work. How often have I sent a pitch to an editor or posted an Instagram that existed to serve only me? Me! Me! Me! All about telling my tale. Those are the stories that fail, by the way. Because they don’t provide value.
Instead, what if I set a selfless intention behind every proposition? What if I thought about what might make the person on the other end smarter, better, happier? Or just more entertained?
When you actually think about who you're creating for, you’re serving not just yourself—but everyone else.
"By the end of dinner, I knew I wanted to marry him.
Jason? He knew a year later."
There’s a reason this week’s Modern Love column was everywhere. If you missed this story by Amy Krouse Rosenthal, a woman diagnosed with cancer who writes a dating profile for her husband…well, I suggest you make the time. Read it here.
