Push vs. Pull
A friend recently told me she felt herself pulled towards a new opportunity. She used that word: pulled. Quite literally drawn to it. And that opportunity? Well, it planted the seeds for a new career. So I began thinking about what pulls me. And the opposite effect: what I resist and have to get pushed into by default. What's pushing or pulling you these days?
“Never think about things more than once. It's a waste of time.”
Emails, small tasks, meetings, where to go for dinner. Obviously, bigger topics warrant more brain-noodling, but how much time could you free up if Little Things ran on automatic? (h/t Getting Things Done)
Random Recs
Carl Zurhorst turned me on to the band Francis and the Lights: They’ve got an early Kanye feel mixed with Phil Collins/The Police. (His words, not mine!) Good stuff.
Tech tip from Alison Peters: Shake your iPhone after you accidentally delete a photo, move an email into the wrong folder, etc. and the iPhone will prompt you with an “undo” option and undo your last move. To turn this on, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Shake to Undo. Whaaat.
Finally, you need f.lux. The program runs in your computer's background and dims your screen according to the time of day. At 2 a.m. it’s a nice warm glow instead of a blinding white. And it’s free! Here ’tis.
Got a random rec, job tip, or need something? I'm all ears.
Thank you for reading.
