Momentum is your best friend
My Version of #MotivationMonday
You try to wash a single fork, and suddenly the entire kitchen is clean. You avoid errands but then finish them in an hour. You run one painful mile yet the second feels fine. Ohhh, so that is momentum? In the same way, one pitch turns into two pitches. Writing on a Monday makes Tuesday easier. And Wednesday easier still. The trick is to set the right actions—ones that feel right to you—into motion. Because when momentum takes over, you’re golden.
"Don't attribute to malice what you can attribute to ignorance or being busy."
I paraphrased this quote from Tim Ferriss, who paraphrased it from Napoleon, but here's the point: That pitch she didn’t respond to? That radio silence when you’re waiting to hear about a job? The person on the other end doesn’t hate you. More likely they are just…busy. Nudge them today and tell me how it goes.
Know Anyone?
Atlas Obscura is launching a Food/Drink vertical, and they’re looking for an editor to run it. It's going to have original stories and video, user submissions, events, etc. The EIC says it’s going to be “fun, busy, and new.” All good things! Job details and how to apply are here.
If there's a topic you'd like me to explore in a future no-newsletter, reply and let me know! I'm all ears. Literally, I'm two giant ears waiting to hear from you.
Thank you for reading.
Love, Kara
