How to Say No and Not Be a Jerk:
“Thank you so much for thinking of me. Unfortunately, my plate is a bit full at the moment and I’m sorry that I won’t be able to take you up on this [writing gig/brunch/fantastic opportunity]. I’d love to recommend [person/resource/website] and hope that might help your [search/experiment/plot for world domination].”
Give the asker a next action—something valuable and tangible she can turn to—and your "no" becomes more valuable than your "yes."
