Why all our conversations are the same
Oh, hi friends!
What to say, what to say, what to say.
Words seem to be more expensive these days. Or at least it’s harder to find the right ones. The answer to “How’re you holding up?” might be a quick “OK” or “Alright and how about you?” You could tell the truth, but that’s pricey.
And if your time is limited, you might find yourself cutting corners, doling out “We’re good” and “Sending positive thoughts.” The sentiments might be true but they stay on the surface. Because who has time for your burdens when there are so many all around us. Right?
What to say, what to say, what to say.
But maybe it would be better if we allowed ourselves to reveal a tiny corner of truth. To sidestep the pat responses. To admit that “Today was better than yesterday but worse than last week,” “Everything is annoying,” “I’m worried for the future.”
Honesty is easy to recognize. Maybe we can make it easy to share, too. Say something real. Say what you really want to say, today,
I don’t know what I love more — my first cup of coffee, my second cup of coffee, or my third cup of coffee. They are all so beautiful. As beautiful as Lin’s caffeinated dog!
Who’s a Cheetah?
Thank you, Kavya R. for informing me about this cheetah cub cam at the Smithsonian National Zoo. Four baby cheetahs were born two days ago and now they’re my entire life? Here you go, and you’re welcome!!
