On acing the bare minimum
Oh, hi friends!
I am loving the bare minimum right now.
Achieving the bare minimum might look like wearing your single pair of non-holey leggings on this Wednesday. Or answering one email three days late. Or glancing at Slack maybe 10, rather than 20, times an hour. It might look like doing a load of laundry so you don’t have to keep counting your clean underwear. Maybe it’s making a hearty lunch then eating Trader Joe’s cat cookies for dinner. (They’re like thin chocolate animal crackers.)
You could do a 7-minute workout or simply roll out your yoga mat, lie on the floor, and look at your ceiling. Isn’t it nice? So smooth, so white. How had you never noticed it before? Calling some far away family member for a quick chat about the weather or cleaning your peanut butter spoon for the first time this week...you know what? You could accomplish both at the same time in under 10 minutes, have them be the only things you do all day, and know they still count.
The bare minimum means you are achieving exactly what you set out to do, which is nothing much, yet also more than nothing.
You can love the bare minimum right now and the bare minimum will love you back.
It all counts — and no one's counting.
My friend Caitlin Collins has been writing one haiku a day and sharing them on social media.
This practice has reminded me of the power of concision (and letting others see your work!). You can follow along over on Instagram @c8lincollins for a daily hit of inspiration.
Finally working on that TV pilot?
I know some people who are cooped up are eyeing their creative projects right now (and/or doing the bare minimum — see above hah). If you're working on a TV pilot — or want to start writing one — you should check out my friend Miriam Datskovsky's coaching services. She can help you hone an idea, polish a script — and offers career advice, too. More info over yonder.
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
