Remember all the fun things?
Oh, hi friends!
I knew I loved theater, but I didn’t know how much until Broadway and all of my other favorite companies and venues were shut down.
I knew I loved the local Center for Fiction, with its wall-to-wall books and quiet creative energy, but I didn’t know how much until they emailed saying they would be closed until April.
I knew I loved gathering groups of friends at my apartment so we could talk about our creative struggles and goals, but I didn’t know how much until that became impossible.
I knew I loved the BMI workshop, where we share songs and advice and laughter, but I didn’t now how much until that was put on hold.
I knew I loved the freedom to travel and visit family and eat a Levain cookie and run with friends and and and...
I’m so glad that now I’m finding out exactly how much I love all of these things (and what others I can live without).
Today I’ll try to remember all these big and little things I love so that when they return, I’ll appreciate them even more.
“Think of the day in two or three big chunks: morning, afternoon, and late afternoon. Assigning parts of your job to certain times of day can help you avoid waking up every morning and having no idea what to tackle first.”
Seriously, I know it sounds basic but even telling yourself like “long-term projects in the morning,” “put out fires in the afternoon,” and “answer emails in the late afternoon” gives you buckets to work with so every day’s not like what am I doing next? I’m interviewed in this Yahoo piece today about best practices for working from home. (One secret: I have pajamas and then a nicer set of “work pajamas.”)
You have to see the best underwater photography in the world. You will feel compelled to click through all 40 images. Whales! Seals! This adorable Goby hanging out on coral!
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
