Oh, hi Monday
Oh, hi friends!
And just like that, it’s Monday morning again.
What do we normally do on Monday mornings? We get out of bed. We brush our teeth. We shower. We eat breakfast. We work. Regret our lunch choices. Answer texts. Stare at email. Fix problems. Find solutions. We find some things to enjoy.
Even when it seems like everything has changed, there are a few things that haven’t.
We can get out of bed. We can regret our lunch choices (or even have a second lunch!). We can fix problems. We can find solutions. We can find some things to enjoy. (I’m loving photos of my friends’ new coworkers a.k.a. their pets.)
We don’t have to do everything, all at once.
But we can remember it’s a Monday morning — and slowly go from there.
This is a very resilient and inspiring sheep and I love him. Thank you, dear Colin, for contributing this quality content.
Brass Ring reader Kelsey Down lives in East Nashville, near the devastation caused by the tornado that traveled 60 miles across Tennessee earlier this month. She told me that the community response from volunteers was incredible — they actually started sending people home so as to not clog up the streets for work crews. (If you feel able to donate, here is the emergency fund for long-term relief for tornado victims.)
This reminds me of how resilient we can be when we come together. Different circumstance now, but same impulse. Help your neighbor. We can do that by not physically coming together, but by doing the opposite: giving each other space in order to preserve our future. I keep thinking about the magnitude of such a collective action, of millions of people living in agreement to simply...not do anything. It will be the biggest movement (or, actually, non-movement) of our lifetime. This — what we can do together — is something to respect and admire.

Thanks, as always, for reading.
