Pulling it together
Oh, hi friends!
This is three hours late because yesterday I got a little…sidetracked. Maybe you did, too?
With new demands on all our attention, it was easy to forget: Oh, yes, but writing my newsletter is the way I make sense of the day, and helps me feel more connected to my projects and other people.
So I’m writing it.
I also have a big deadline in about 24 hours, one that I’ve known about for months. (It’s for the Sundance Episodic Program — basically you workshop a television pilot with mentors over a week in October!)
But yesterday I found myself saying, What’s the point? My project probably isn’t as cool/smart/radical/innovative as the others.
It was easy to forget that if I don’t submit, I’ll definitely regret it a week from now — probably even a year from now.
Finishing my work reminds me of what I want to do be doing, and shipping my work helps me reinforce that story to myself.
So I’m submitting it.
If thinking about now is difficult, ask yourself, What will you regret not doing one year from now? Then try to take a step toward that.
I’m cheering for you.

Last night I watched an episode of Season 3 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (for “work” LOL) and my brain felt so happy. There are *good* distractions out there in the world! Let me know which ones you find.
