If you’re out of ideas…
Oh, hi friends!
Ideas float and flutter.
Sometimes they come to rest on you for a week. A few months. Maybe years.
Other times they fly away as quickly as they came.
You can choose to chase them.
Go and track them down.
Or you can wait for more to come.
Because they always will.
Your ideas are out there in the air, waiting for a nice place to land.
Hey, look! It’s me! (Just out of frame is my very overstuffed bookshelf. And Porg slippers. But this is proof that I do have a face.)
I got an email three weeks ago. The subject line was: “Will you be on my podcast?” My response: Oh, this is new! This is kinda scary! This...could be fun?
The email came from writer and podcast host Jenna Britton, and it was about her podcast, “Brave Enough to Be,” which is all about putting personal growth into practice, and being brave enough to pursue the best version of your life, whatever that may look like for you.
We set up our interview and…turns out I really love talking about the creative process? Who would have guessed!! Jenna was a wonderful interviewer, and I ended up thinking much more deeply than usual about process and committing to your creativity. And now look, it exists in the world less than a month later!
Here’s our episode.
We talk about how to move ideas forward, why I started Brass Ring Daily, the necessity of “creative buckets” and a lot more. I hope you find something of value in it! I’m glad I was brave enough that moment to give it a go.
My friend Val Pholpituke is creating the cutest and quirkiest art over on Instagram. You know when you see something that always makes you smile? That’s what her drawings do for me. Give her a follow @tinydeerpost. Meanwhile, I’m off to peel some hardboiled eggs for breakfast...!
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
