Oh, hi friends!
Everyone says summer is sleepy, but I’m not so sure.
In the last 24 hours I’ve witnessed friends announce shiny new jobs, launch businesses, and go into contract on buying houses. Those don’t feel like sleepy moves to me. These big moves are a little reminder.
Even in the dog days of summer, you can still have a new beginning.
Also, sometimes things are slow, until they’re fast.
Meet my new favorite person, Sylvia Zucker, who lives on the Upper West Side and turned 106 last week:
“Sylvia’s love of flowers and art has not faded, and she continues to paint and sketch during her free time. She attributes her longevity to ‘being around nice people,’ and if she could pass on any wisdom to younger generations, she said she would instead, ‘spend the afternoon teaching them to be considerate and singing.’ She is a soprano and her favorite song is ‘I Wanna Be Loved By You.’ As we made our way to her room to see some of her artwork, she started humming her favorite tune to herself.”
Art keeps you young! Also in this lovely story: Sylvia has started to learn how to play the piano. It’s never too late to be a beginner.

I don’t spend a lot of time on Twitter these days, but when I do, @Bodegacats_ never misses.
