what happens the day after you win your Oscar
Oh, hi friends!
How many times do you have to hear about a movie before you see it?
Or a play? Or a new exhibition?
I think they say it takes being exposed to a new idea or opportunity 3-5 times before it registers in your brain; before action takes place.
(That’s why films run so many ads, again and again, or why authors tweet about their books, again and again.)
That’s also why you might need to keep pushing your ideas, too.
In practice, this looks like following up on that pitch, sharing your song, emailing that friend who said they’d help you out.
It means letting people hear you, again and again, until they start to see you.
“I just thought, Don’t stop. Don’t relax. Don’t think that you’ve reached a point. You never reach anywhere. You just go on working.”
Keeping in the spirit of last night’s award ceremony, apparently this is what it feels like to finally win an Oscar (after many, many, many close calls). Some of them get back up the next day and go to work!
It took me, I don’t know, eleven years to figure out how to dress for a slushy winter?! But now I’ve basically been living in these wool runner-up “Mizzles” from Allbirds during any drizzly days. I share this in case you’ve recently been the victim of wet socks.
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
