I didn't think I would be this person

Oh, hi friends!
Since mentioning my “run a mile a day ’til New Year’s” streak on Tuesday, I have an update: Streaks are good.
Being stringent isn’t good. I don’t want this to consume my life. But after nine days, it’s become a reassuring pattern to at least have 15 minutes a day outside, committing to a larger goal.
And here’s the best part. Friends (and strangers!) have joined in with their own streaks. They’re running and walking, reading one chapter a day, writing 10 lines of dialogue each day, writing something creative for at least 15 minutes every day, engaging in spiritual/experimental writing, and doing an 8-minute HIIT workout every day. (Note: These are all different people, not one incredibly diligent person!!)
Consistency breeds confidence. You did it yesterday, so you can do it again today.
What will you do today?

OK, but sometimes I *do* want to be stringent. LOL. Even if you’re not showing up to a movie set every day, like Christopher, what if you thought about your creative projects: “If I don’t show up, they’d fire me.” Would that change how often you showed up?

Guess what!!! The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is back! I’m looking forward to seeing Midge and Susie continue their world domination. Meanwhile, composer Ron Passaro and I are working on adapting seasons 1 and 2 into a marvelous musical in the BMI Workshop.
In the interest of sharing our creative process, here are our first two songs, “Timing Is Everything” (Midge’s song!) and “Idiots and Assholes” (Susie’s song, of course…).
They’re works-in-progress that will change as we develop the show, but living in 1958 has been such a treat so far. Join us!!

Thanks, as always, for reading.
