a tale of three opportunities

Oh, hi friends!
One day, an opportunity will come to you.
It’ll be shiny. Opportunities often are. Maybe some sparkles or stripes or dollar signs or whatever catches your eye.
And you will think, This is it. This is my rescue boat.
And you will either move towards it — or you will keep standing still.
One day, another opportunity will come to you.
This one will be confusing. Maybe it feels like a difficult trade-off. Will you, could you do it?
And you will think, What’s on the other side? Should I risk the unknown?
And you will either move towards it — or you will keep standing still.
One day, a third opportunity will come to you.
It’s kind of a weird shape. But the shape happens to fit you and your life perfectly.
And you will think — actually, you will know — *this* is what I’ve been waiting for.
And you will move towards it. Gingerly, maybe.
But you won’t stand still. Because this opportunity is one you created yourself.
For you.
And when we’re acting rather than reacting, we don’t stand still.

I am trying to be more active on Twitter these days, both to share Brass Ring-related ideas and to fling more words out into space. I would love to engage with you there!

Today’s fake-link is ready. I’ve been thinking about how we know when we’re ready, even for the most routine tasks. I’m hungry, so I’m ready for lunch. I have 30 minutes, so I’m ready to check my inbox. That’s why I was intrigued by Inbox When Ready, a free Chrome extension that hides your inbox until you’re ready to access it. “Just don’t open the gmail tab,” you might say. Good advice! But this allows you to search your hidden inbox (which I often need to do, to find drafts/songs/contacts), without getting distracted by new messages. I became obsessed with it last week; if you give it a try, lemme know what you think! Also, I don't know why this sounds like an ad, maybe it's just how I talk about things that I love? What a weirdo!!
Do you like these daily emails? Please share with a friend!
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Love, Kara
