How Sweetgreen became my enemy

Oh, hi friends!
I went to Sweetgreen after work and my workshop on Tuesday night. I wanted something quick and healthy-ish and was willing to pay $14 for a bunch of roasted vegetables in a bowl. The service was comically bad. Will I go again? Maybe. Or maybe not. There are hundreds of other options in the city.
Later in the week, I called to book a rehearsal space. The woman scheduling rooms was incredibly nice. When she didn’t have the smaller room I needed, she immediately offered one of the larger spaces at the smaller room rate. She could have said, “We don’t have anything available,” and I would have called one of a dozen other places. Instead, she never gave me the option to think about an alternative choice. She provided a solution.
Now which experience will I recommend to other people? Which will I return to?
(The space was Alchemical Studios, by the way.)
Which businesses make your life a little easier? Who makes your day a little smoother?
And when people come to you — hire you, walk in the door of your business, read your work — are you making it as easy as possible for them to return, over and over again?
“After we terrorize ourselves with self-doubt, our only relief is to get moving again.”
I loved this profile of Twyla Tharp, who’s still creating dances (and dances herself!) at age 79. I still need to be reminded on a weekly basis that moving in some form — running, biking, walking to get a coffee — usually provides the answers and the clear head I need.

Everybody!! I know you can believe in yourself!! If you believe in yourself!! You will know how to ride a bike!! If you don’t!! You just keep practicing!! You will get the hang of it!! I know it!! If you keep practicing!! You all can get the hang of it!! And you can get better and better at it as you do it!! Thumbs up for rock and roll!!
Who knew this child screaming at me was just the motivation I needed? (Jenn Haltman did!) Also, why do videos from 8 years ago look ancient?
Have a rock ’n’ roll start to your November, friends.

And once more (with feeling), for your possible weekend viewing: Here is the recent concert reading of my new 20-minute musical, The Eyes of Vienna. Thank you to everyone who's watched and shared their thoughts so far!!!

Thanks, as always, for reading.
